Good morning to all wine investment enthusiasts,
I'm Rodney Cheong from Oracle Wines Pte Ltd. It is great to see that in Singapore, there are quite a number of investment savvy people and those who love their wines. But there are some things in here that's rather messed up. In a way that many people misinterpret a "collection" to becoming an "investment". Do bear with me here while I explain this new phenomenal type of "investment".
First of all, wine is something that has a long history. Made famous by Jesus Christ Himself during his last dinner with his disciples. As his "blood".
As you all know here, its either "the older the wine, the more expensive it is". Due to simple economics, demand over supply. But in order for the wines to be in demand, it MUST have a name and a good or great past track record for itself. EG Chateau Lafite Rothschild or Chateau Latour. And a great vintage and a good rating by the infamous critic, Robert Parker Jr. EG, a Ferrari will always be expensive because of its name and rates by most drivers. At times, Ferrari may have its bad views and rates. But still, in order to own one, you still have to fork out millions of dollars to own one. Same goes to wines. Though at times wines may have a bad rating, they will still be expensive because of their label/name. Only 1% of wines in the world are of "investment Grade". This is just a simple knowledge on wine investment. Even "drinking Wines" do make money.
Many have the wrong idea when it comes to wines. For example, if you were to own the Mona Lisa or any of DA Vinci's works, or maybe a rare Rolex or Breitling, do you call them art investments or watch investments when you sell off your COLLECTION? Wine, art and watch are the same. They are more to collection rather than investment. Its just that the demand for these items are high that causes their worth in price. Of course you can make money out of all these items. Hence, they become investment grade items. This is for the physical bottles of wines.
As for buying Wine Futures or known as "En Primeur", you are actually buying the wines when its in the barrel during fermentation period. After which it will be bottled then sold to the market for other investors who will collect them either for passion or wanting to make even more money. You are actually buying the wines when they are at the youngest and not ready to be drank yet. Once it reaches its drinking age, that's where you make your money.
We at Oracle Wines don't only deal with purely Wine Investment though that is our core business. But we are also here to further PROMOTE this lifestyle. Honestly, you will look better in a suit with a wine glass in it rather than being in T-shirt and jeans with a beer glass in your hands. No offense, but I do love my Heineken too. Like I said, its a way of a different lifestyle. No harm to learn ways of the higher class. We also deal with retailing, distributions, accessories-fridge stemware, collection, wine tasting events and most of all Investment.
There is more to this than meets the eye when it comes to Wine Investment/Collection. But the main purpose of this is to make money to diversify our portfolios or "putting your eggs in different baskets". To balance out your investment portfolios. there are many things to learn when it comes to wine investment. just like having to study many things when you want to invest in stocks and shares. Undeniable!
I am contactable at +65-9769-9960. Do call me if you have any enquiries on wine investments. Even if you want to understand the nature of wines itself. No obligations. And we have to thank our service providers to make our incoming calls free.
Cheers
Rodney Cheong
