Feeling prices for 2005 French vintage heating up? For wine enthusiat like myself, it could be too much a brunt to bear as wine retailers begin to jack up prices across board with the delivery of 2005 French En Premier. A quick check discovers that the Chateau Latour Carnet 2005 which I bought late last year for $55 have gone up to $70 by now. That's a whopping 27% increase in price. If you feel like giving up, here a good news for respite. According to report from Bloomberg, the 2006 Burgundy vintage of White did exceptional well despite the wetter and cooler than usual weather. At the moment, prices have not gone out of sanity because everyone's attention was set on the 2005 Bordeaux vintage. If you are not a fan of White, the Red did reasonably well with most of the northern cote ready to drink as compared to the 2005s which require futher cellaring. So for all French wine enthusiast out there, we should turn to drinking white for a breather. For those hardcore Red blooded drinkers like myself, Burgundy deserves some attention if the Bordeaux is beyond our reach. I will definitely stock up some for myself when it becomes available middle of this year.
