Anyone who reads my blog knows that I'm not a white wine person. But today, I am really excited to recommend a white wine which I picked up from Denise the Wine Shop at Shaw Gallery. This wine hail from Rhone Valley in France from Saint Peray AOC and I must say it’s good, very approachable and of course bang for bucks! What wine could I be so excited over, none other than M. Chapoutier 2004. Well, since I am not exactly familiar with white wine, I did some research on this wine. I was quite surprise to read from some well known references that Saint Peray white are pretty dismay and lacks charm. Personally I felt this wine performed better than expected. Maybe I was not exposed to extra ordinary good tasting Rhone Valley wine, hence my expectation is less demanding. Nevertheless this M Chapoutier 2004 has brought much enjoyment and delight to my family’s dinner table on Saturday with a good spread with braised sea Garoupa, steam Kai Lan in oyster sauce, and a tender roasted chicken in pressurized griller (my Mum’s new toy). M. Chapoutier was a perfect match for our meal complementing exactly the white meats spread. Serving chilled at ~ 7 Degree Celsius, this wine gives a clear crisp sensation with a bouquet the like of a rich bunch of flowers, and slowly evolves into beautiful melon aromatic taste on the palate. The finishing produces an extremely fruity and tasty mineral note sufficiently not to turn it into a soil eating experience. I heard from the Denise the Wine Shop that the existing stocks are clearing off fast and there are not many left. If you are like cheap and good wine. Don’t hesitate anymore. This wine is definitely worth every penny. How else could you make a table of guest happy, but with a good and affordable bottle of Saint Peray M. Chapoutier!
